The most influential stallions in showjumping breeding since 2015

Did you know that you can consult our rankings from every year since 2015? Hippomundo has made it possible to find out which horses, riders, breeders, stallions etc were most successful per individual year. More recently, an overall ranking has been created to discover the most influential stallions since the start of 2015 based on their number of offspring, the total amount of prize money won by their offspring and the average amount of prize money won per offspring of a particular stallion. Let's discuss the stallions that have had the biggest influence in showjumping breeding since 2015.

In terms of number of offspring active internationally since 2015, Diamant de Semilly by Le Tot de Semilly out of a mother by Elf III is most represented with exactly 1,524 descendants in the sport. By far his most profitable son is Don VHP Z out of a mother by Voltaire who has several five-star Grand Prix wins to his name under the saddle of Harrie Smolders.

The KWPN stallion Kannan by Voltaire out of a Nimmerdor-mare has seen a total of 1,300 descendants compete on the international jumping scene since 2015. The Selle Francais stallion Quabri de L'Isle out of a mother by Socrate de Chivre is the most profitable Kannan-progeny to date, closely followed by Molly Malone V.

With a total of 895 offspring competing internationally since the start of 2015, Chacco Blue completes the podium. Explosion W out of a mother by Baloubet du Rouet is by far his most profitable son with multiple five-star Grand Prix wins and a silver medal at the European Championships of Rotterdam in 2019.

When we take a look at the average prize money won by the offspring of stallions with a minimum of 100 descendants active in the international sport since 2015, we see the KWPN-stallion Larino come out on top. The son of Concorde out of a mother by Armstrong only had 116 descendants compete internationally during the past 6,5 years. However they did manage to win on average over €35,000 each. BWP-mare Jasmien vd Bisschop out of a mother by Chin Chin is Larino's most profitable descendant to date, followed by Apart out of a mother by Burggraaf and With Wings out of a Ronald-mare.

Cornet Obolensky, born as Windows vh Costersveld by Clinton out of a Heartbreaker-mare, saw almost quadruple the amount of offspring as Larino compete internationally since 2015. Exactly 480 Cornet-descendants won on average over €34,000 each. 2019 European gold medalist Clooney 51 is his most profitable descendant, followed by Balou de Reventon, Comme Il Faut and Cornado NRW who have all surpassed the amount of one million euros in prize money won since the start of 2015.

With an average of over €33,000 won per descendant, For Pleasure completes the podium. The Hanoverian stallion by Furioso II out of a mare by Grannus saw 355 offspring appear on the international showjumping scene. Multiple five-star Grand Prix winner, Fit For Fun 13 is by far his most profitable progeny, followed by Hello Forever and For Joy van 't Zorgvliet.
