Horses come a long way to get to the highest level of our sport and reach a variety of milestones along the way. One of the biggest achievements for any rider or breeder of a particular horse is the first time they complete a 1.60m track. Hippomundo's Potentials lists debuting horses and/or riders at a particular level. Today we discuss some of the horses that have completed their first 1.60m course during the past 30 days.
Last month's most successful 1.60m debut was produced by ten-year-old Selle Francais stallion Cash du Plessis. The son of Orient Express is the full brother to 1.60m jumper Bloom du Plessis (Zazou Hoffman) and half-brother to 1.60m performer Nectar du Plessis. Under the saddle of Lorenzo de Luca, the stallion completed his first 1.60m track during the CSI5* Grand Prix in Valkenswaard almost two weeks ago and immediately managed to finish second in a competitive and more experienced field. Cash du Plessis was bred in France by André Chenu.
At the start of the month during the CSIO5* competition in Knokke, the nine-year-old Selle Francais stallion Do It Easy completed his first two 1.60m classes. The son of Vigo Cece comes from a damline of several other 1.45m performers and made his 1.60m debut in the five-star Nations Cup in Knokke, finishing on a score of four and eight faults under the saddle of Kendra Claricia Brinkop. Two days later it all came together for the pair when they jumped clear in the CSIO5* Grand Prix to finish fourth, with a rail on the last fence in the jump-off keeping them from the win. Do It Easy was bred in France by SCEA d'Eraulcourt.
The 11-year-old Selle Francais gelding Bracadabra also produced a noteworthy 1.60m debut. Under the saddle of French young talent Megane Moissonnier, the son of Pacific des Essarts completed his first 1.60m track in the Prize of Europe on the magnificent grass arena in Aachen. A beautiful double clear round made the pair finish fourth which is an impressive result for the horse's first exposure at that level. Bracadabra comes from the damline of Luca Maria Moneta's 1.60m mare Roumia and was bred in France by Hubert Bourdy.
At the age of 12, Westphalian stallion Charlie Harper made his 1.60m debut in the CSI4* Grand Prix of La Coruna ten days ago. Under the saddle of Mexican showjumper Fernando Martinez Sommer, the son of Comme Il Faut finished on the podium in third place. Charlie Harper was bred in Germany by Bernd Hirnstein.
Nueva Epoca de Regor jumped her first 1.60m class in the CSIO5* Grand Prix of Falsterbo at nine years of age. Ridden by Belgian rider Karel Cox, the daughter of Nabab de Reve jumped clear in the first round and a rail in the jump-off put them in fifth place position. Nueva Epoca de Regor is a half-sister to Abdel Said's former 1.60m horse Jackson de Regor and was bred in Belgium by Stal de Regor, owned by the Family Veldeman.
