We often talk about the great sires based on the performances of their offspring in the sport. Today we would like to change it up and discuss the approved stallions that are currently still active in the sport. We take a look at the highest-earning approved stallions in the international sport during the past 365 days.
The stallion who has won the highest amount of prize money internationally during the past 365 days is the Polish-bred Nevados S, the son of Calvados Z out of a mare by Romualdo. The 14-year-old breeding product of Stanislaw Szurik won a total of over €580,000 in international competitions during the past year under the saddle of Belgian rider Gregory Wathelet. The pair came third in the prestigious Aachen Grand Prix in September, as well as winning the team bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo over the summer. They were also a part of the Paris Panthers team who finished second in the Prague Play Offs in November last year.
Nevados S has a total of 33 registered descendants in our Hippomundo database of which the eldest were born in 2015 with Fabregas S as a frontrunner, currently competing in 1.40m classes.

Currently second in this ranking with a total amount of almost €480,000 won in the past year is Le Blue Diamond van 't Ruytershof. The 11-year-old BWP stallion is a son of Plot Blue out of Diamanthina van 't Ruytershof who is the full sister to Emerald van 't Ruytershof, by Diamant de Semilly. Le Blue Diamond was bred by Stal 't Ruytershof and is currently in ownership of Jan Vermeiren. Under the saddle Olivier Philippaerts, the stallion represented the Belgian team at the European Championships in Riesenbeck this summer where they helped Belgium win the team bronze medal. They also produced a double clear round at the GCL Prague Play Offs to help their London Knights team to victory.
Le Blue Diamond van 't Ruytershof currently has a total of 460 registered offspring to his name of which the eldest were born in 2015. He has already produced several approved stallions including Panter JVH, Quito van den Aard and Look-O-Look Z.

Completing the top three at the moment is the 16-year-old Holsteiner stallion Quel Homme de Hus. The son of Quidam de Revel out of a mare by Candillo Z was bred in Germany by Andreas Kosicki. Paired with Jerome Guery, Quel Homme has won a total of over €466,000 in prize money over the past year. Most importantly, the pair was victorious in the 5* Grand Prix of Knokke in the run-up to the Olympic Games, where they helped Team Belgium win the bronze medal. This combination also produced a double clear round in the Nations Cup of Rome to help the Belgian team secure the win.
Quel Homme de Hus' oldest registered offspring were born in 2014 with Eloize M'Aurea currently competing at 1.40m level, but he only really started breeding a more significant number of mares in 2020. At the moment, a total of 62 horses are registered in the Hippomundo database with Quel Homme as their sire.

Ranking just outside the top three with a winning sum of over €432,000 is Balou du Reventon. The son of Cornet Obolensky out of a mare by Continue was bred by Paul Schockemöhle and was successful under the saddle of US rider Brian Moggre during the past 365 days. The pair was a part of two winning Nations Cup teams in Wellington and Aachen and also managed to win the CSIO5* Grand Prix of Sopot, as well as a second place finish in the CSIO5* Aachen Grand Prix.
A total of 160 horses are registered in the Hippomundo database with Balou du Reventon as their sire. Four of them are already competing at 1.60m+ level alongside their father: Cornet's Cambridge, Crack Balou, Mike Wazowski and Cahir N.

The Zangersheide stallion Hello Vincent completes the top five. Born as Coquin de Coquerie Z, the son of Consul de la Vie out of a mare by Fergar Mail has won a total of almost €339,000 in prize money internationally during the past 365 days. Scott Brash rode the stallion to Grand Prix victory at CSI5*-W Lyon as well as in two 1.55m classes in Doha and Aachen.
Hello Vincent is approved for the Zangersheide studbook, but does not have any registered offspring in the Hippomundo database yet.
