(Mijas)  The last week of the Winter Cup at the Costa del Sol Equestrian Tour in Spain has begun with the classic tests for young horses. The young candidates are five to seven years old and their rounds draw the gaze of everyone around. Viktor Daem and Cassandra Malherbe from Belgium, and Brit Sebastian Bishop, landed the day’s victories.

Sebastian Bishop is just 17 years old but he has accumulated a number of placings in his first international season at the CSI-YH in Mijas, Andalusia. And now has come a win, and even a second place success to go with it. The young Brit, who has been competing at the Costa del Sol Tour since 7th March, claimed victory with Hollandini - a horse from Dutch stock -  in the competition for five-year-old horses, and took second place with Springsteen Z. Directly behind Bishop came his compatriot Lauren Edwards with her Breit Star.

In the six and seven-year-old horses’ competitions, two Belgians dominated the action. Cassandre Malherbe, 29 years old and, as a junior, part of the Belgian European Championship squad who won silver and bronze in 2002 and 2003, piloted Fee van het Kauterhof to victory. In the test for seven-year-old horses, 25-year-old Viktor Daem and Holstein mare Carinja took top spot.

The young horse tour will reach its climax in the final on Thursday, which comes at the end of three Winter Cup weeks of competition. The Costa del Sol Equestrian Tour works tirelessly and consciously to integrate young horses and to provide the perfect platform for training and tournament experience.
