Diamant de Semilly, number one in the Hippomundo Sire ranking

Based on ‘total earnings’ and ‘number of horses’ from end November 2016 to end November 2017, the French progenitor Diamant de Semilly is leading the most recent Hippomundo sire ranking. Partnered with Eric Levallois, Diamant won the team gold medal during the 2002 World Championship in Jerez de la Frontera and placed ninth individually. In the same year he was laurelled as the French showjumping champion. Diamant won the team silver medal during the 2003 European Championship in Donaueschingen. In the Hippomundo sire ranking Diamant is ranked first, thanks to brilliant international showjumpers, amongst them Don VHP Z (Harrie Smolders), the ‘Olympic stallion’ Emerald van ’t Ruytershof (Harrie Smolders), Ilex VP (Nicolas Delmotte), Asathir (ex-Tecla d’Auge, Philipp Weishaupt) and Urano de Cartigny (Pénélope Leprevost). In the top 100, six descendants of Diamant are combined with daughters of Papillon Rouge (namely Asathir, Safari d’Auge, Hello Guv’nor, Un Diamant des Forets, Sheriff de la Nutria LM and Uddy de Vernay) and five with daughters of Kannan (Sweet de Beaufour, Tiny Toon Semilly, Union de la Nutria, Quapitola de Beaufour and Vannan).

Chacco-Blue, a son of Chambertin out of a daughter of Contender, is ranked second. He produced a great number of international showjumpers that are mentioned in the ranking, such as Chacanno (Henrik von Eckermann), Chalou (Emanuele Gaudiano), Chaqui Z (Shane Sweetnam), Chadino (Simon Delestre), VDL Groep Miss Untouchable (Leopold Van Asten) and Chacco Kid (Eric Lamaze).

The Holstein performance blood dominates the top 25. In this top 25, Capitol I is represented as sire of Indoctro (15th) and Cardento (21st) and as grandsire of Berlin (ex-Caspar, 13th) and Colman (12th). Capitol I is also the sire of the dam of Calvaro Z (19th). We also meet Caletto II several times: in the sire line of Casall (6th) and in the dam line of Indoctro and Berlin. Lord, one of the best sons of the thoroughbred Ladykiller, is the sire of Lord Z (22nd) and the sire of the dam of Colman and Cardento.

In the top 20 some stallions are strongly represented: Baloubet du Rouet and his son Balou du Rouet, Nabab de Rêve and his son Kashmir van’t Schuttershof, Heartbreaker and his son Toulon, as well as Quidam de Revel and his sons Nabab de Rêve and VDL Groep Verdi TN.
