Abdel Said and the mare Zasou vom Claashof won the CSI5* GCT/GCL Grand Prix in Cannes on Saturday, taking the 1.60m class after a double-clear jump-off.

The event was run as a Table A with jump-off, and the decisive phase separated the leading combinations on speed after a first round in which the top finishers all kept the fences up. Said and the Hanoverian mare, bred by Stephan Hindrichs, stopped the clock in 39.44 seconds to take the €165,000 first prize.

Michael Pender and the gelding HHS Cyprus were next best for Ireland, also posting two clear rounds and finishing in 41.35 seconds. Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann and the stallion Cellagon Cascais took third on 43.44 seconds after another clear effort.

The rest of the top five was completed by Andreas Schou and Napoli vh Nederassenthof, who were fourth with four faults in the jump-off, and Jörne Sprehe and the stallion Toys, who finished fifth on four faults. The class was tightly packed at the front, and the fastest clear round decided the winner.

Full class results provide the complete order for the Grand Prix.
