Last weekend, Marcus Ehning's family announced the death of Noltes Küchengirl at the age of 26. This mare was born in 1997 under the name of Lord's Classic to Eva-Maria Schmid.
A pedigree without frills
Born of the union between Lord Z and Andante (by Cambridge Cole), Noltes Küchengirl also has two black-type brothers: Cuckoo (by Caretello B) born in 1998 and Lord's Guy (by Lord Z) born in 2003.
In sport, a champion with character.
The mare made her international GP debut under the saddle of Johannes Ehning, the younger brother of the German rider. Together, they won the Hamburg GP CSI4* when the mare was just 8 years old. A few months later, the mare came under Marcus' saddle and the victories followed in quick succession: Grand-Prix and Nations Cup at the CSIO5* in La Baule and GP CSIO5* in Aachen. So it was only natural that the pair should be selected for the World Championships in Aachen (2006). The mare then showed her true colours with a refusal on the wall that knocked out Germany's individual and team plans. The following year, the mare was back on the podium with the German team at the Nations Cups in La Baule (1st), St Gallen (2nd) and Aachen (1st). Once again, the pair was selected for the continental championships in Mannheim. Once again, the mare did not take part in the games and the pair were unable to make their desired contribution to the German team's silver medal. Despite her setbacks at the championships, the mare continued to perform well at the highest level until the end of her career in 2014. She won the Grand Prix at : CSI4* in Lummen (2009), Global Champions Tour Final in Rio de Janeiro (2010) the World Cup stage in Zurich (2011) and the CSI5* in Zurich (2013).

Offspring guaranteed.
After her sporting career, the mare pursued a breeding career in the care of the Ehning family and the Noltes family, who own the mare. Her first offspring, born in 2015, Comme Sa Mère is a stallion son of Comme il faut and is already 1.45m tall under the saddle of the German rider. Plot's Princess (by Plot Blue) was born in 2016 and competes in CSI young horses under the saddle of Marcus Ehning. For Georges, a son of For Pleasure, is also trained by the German rider.
A mare who will have left her mark on the history of equestrian sports in all its facets, and who we'll hear from again thanks to her promising offspring!
