With Mangoon, another German stallion enters the stage of the really big sport. Born in 2014, the dark chestnut by HH Messenger (by Montender) out of Caprice 511 was bred by Carsten Müller-Rulfs and genetically has everything it takes for modern sport: elegance, technique and a significant amount of blood. Since this year, he has been competing at 1.60m level for the first time - and successfully so._
His greatest success to date:
Victory in the Global Champions League in Monte Carlo, a demanding CSI5* show jumping competition over 1.60m, together with Lorenzo de Luca. The pair had already made a name for themselves in Opglabbeek with a second place in the Grand Prix at 1.55m level, also under De Luca. Mangoon also showed his consistent performance in the 1.50m jumping competition in Monte Carlo, where he finished in seventh place.
The path to these successes began with another well-known name: Tom Wachman, who brought Mangoon into the sport in 2020. The young Irishman, most recently the youngest starter in the Grand Prix of Aachen, came to the horse via his trainer Cian O'Connor.
His breeders once said:
We are super happy to see him doing a super job !
Here are the other riders who have ridden this horse in his career, including the prize money:

A look at the performance statistics shows a horse with a solid basis: Mangoon has competed at all heights up to 1.60m, whereby his reliability at 1.40m and 1.45m level is particularly impressive with over 50% clear rounds in each case. The podium places in three different class levels (1.40m, 1.45m and 1.60m) reflect his versatility.
His pedigree also emphasises his sporting potential: in addition to HH Messenger, his dam is Montender, who shone at international championships under Marco Kutscher. And another top international horse at 1.60m level, Contagio Z, comes from the other dam line.
With a Hippomundo rating of 64 points, over €43,000 in international prize money and a flawless performance on his debut over the top of the heights, Mangoon is one of the most exciting up-and-comers of the year - and is likely to be the talk of the town more often in the future.
