At the start of the Olympic year, it's worth taking a look at the latest developments in horse transfers to maximize the chances of their participation in the next Olympic Games. Today, Hippomundo takes a look at Arqana de Riverland, who has just left the French flag to head for the other side of the Channel under the saddle of John Whitaker.
Arqana de Riverland, Quidam de Revel's pedigree.
Arqana de Riverland is a Selle Français mare born in 2010 at SARL Elevage de Riverland. A daughter of Cornet Obolenksy and Stella de Riverland (by Diamant de Semilly), she was purchased at the age of 7 by the rider who trained her to the highest level, French rider Juliette Faligot.
Arqana de Riverland is a direct descendant of the breeding leader, Quidam de Revel. Her maternal granddam, Razzia de Revel, is Quidam de Revel's full sister. In addition to Arqana's dam, she also produced Helyria de Kerser: dam of Quanan Rouge (HLR104) and Pompon Rouge (HLR87), both 1.60m levels under Julien Anquetin's saddle.
Arqana's dam, Stella de Riverland, has produced 5 horses, including 2 Black-Type horses: Arqana de Riverland & Disign de Riverland, born in 2013, who evolves in 1m45
Arqana de Riverland, Juliette Faligot's protégée
Arqana de Riverland made her national competition debut under Romain Potin on the young horse circuit, and went on to compete internationally for the first time at the age of 7 under her current owner Juliette Faligot. She progressed to 5* level with a French team appearance at the Drammen Nations Cup in 2021 (3rd) and numerous placings in international GPs: 2nd in the CSI4* GP at Bourg en Bresse (2022), 3rd in the CSI4* GP at Vilamoura (2021), 3rd in the CSI3* GP at Vejer de la Frontera (2021), 4th in the CSI5* GP at Dinard (2022) etc.
To enable her mare to take part in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games next August, Juliette Faligot has chosen to entrust her mare to John Whitaker and at the same time (to comply with the horse's participation conditions) to cede 1% ownership to her new rider.
Let's wish this young couple the best of luck for the future, and see the French Selle mare follow in the footsteps of Quidam de Revel.
