Foal price trends by stallion: Who tops the list this year?

The auction prices of foals can vary significantly depending on the stallion. We take a look at the stallions that lead the ranking, based on the median price of their auctioned offspring this year. To qualify for this list, a stallion must have had at least five offspring sold at auctions this year.

Baltic VDL

Leading the list is Baltic VDL (Quaprice du Bois Margot x Nellandra (Jus de Pomme) | KWPN) with an impressive average auction price of €36,500. This figure is based on six foals sold. His top seller, Umika Tella VDL (Baltic VDL x Toulon | KWPN), fetched €48,500 at the Trigon auction in early August. Close behind was Belina Pommex Z (Baltic VDL x Indoctro | Z), sold for €45,000.

Heartbreaker

In second place is Heartbreaker (Nimmerdor x Bacarole (Silvano) | KWPN), with an average price of €17,000 across nine foals sold. His highlight of the year came at the Brussels Stephex Masters, where his offspring Hohneck Pommex Z (Heartbreaker x Kannan | Z) was sold for an impressive €81,000. The next one on his list, Hey Pretty Boy E4U Z (Heartbreaker x Diamant de Semilly | Z) was sold for €38,000.

Diamant de Semilly

The third spot goes to French stallion Diamant de Semilly (Le Tot de Semilly x Venise des Cresles (Elf III) | SF), with an average auction price of €15,000 for 14 foals sold. His top foal, Kinmar Prince (Diamant de Semilly x Chin Chin | WSI), was sold for €48,000 at the Grand Prix Sales auction. Bizet Optimus (Diamant de Semilly x Bamako de Muze | BWP) was sold for €30,000 at the Horseman Elite auction.
