Emerald and Chacco-Blue dominate the Zangersheide stallion selection 2026.

Next to the international CSI4 competition, the third edition of ‘The Zangersheide International’ once again provides the setting this week for Studbook Zangersheide’s spring stallion selection.*

The stallion selection of Studfarm Zangersheide remains a key date on the calendar for breeders and enthusiasts of the modern showjumping horse. In 2026, the event once again brought together a large and high-quality group of young stallions. After an intensive selection process, a select number managed to distinguish themselves and were awarded a breeding license — with two established names clearly leaving their genetic mark on this year’s collection.

Selection in numbers

A total of 134 stallions were presented to the jury. After the first evaluation round, 65 stallions were invited back for the second round of free jumping. In the end, jury members Stijn van Campenhout, Eric Levallois and Tim Rieskamp awarded 39 stallions with a breeding license.

Strong influence of Emerald and Chacco-Blue

The 2026 generation appears to be strongly influenced by two proven sires: Emerald and Chacco-Blue. Both stallions produced six approved sons each, together accounting for 12 of the 39 licensed stallions — nearly 30% of the total.

Approved sons of Chacco-Blue:

  • Champion Z
  • Chubby KCX Berghoeve Z
  • Chill Out Zoetendaele Z
  • Contèro STM Z
  • Cocu 2000 Z
  • Ceewatch LL Z

Approved sons of Emerald:

  • Emerald's Touch RV Z
  • Epic Waldstar Z
  • E Von Barlo
  • Etu Camiy Z
  • Estoril Z
  • Emir van't Goor Z

Aganix du Seigneur ranks third

In third place among the sires is Aganix du Seigneur, with three approved offspring:

  • Amigo ter Putte Z
  • Avici
  • Alibaba van't Schaeck

Emerging generation making its mark

Several younger stallions also saw one or two of their sons approved:

  • Cuba Libre de Muze Z
  • Cavalier Russe Z
  • Toèmme de Regor Z
  • Diablue PS

Their presence highlights how, alongside established bloodlines, a new generation of stallions is gradually making its way into the international breeding landscape.

The results of this stallion selection demonstrate a clear blend of continuity and renewal. While influential sires such as Emerald and Chacco-Blue maintain their dominant position, a younger generation is emerging that may help shape the future of the sport.

Strong prices at the Zangersheide Stallion Auction

The Zangersheide Stallion Auction also attracted plenty of attention. Auction topper Champion Z was sold for an impressive €165,000. In doing so, he once again confirmed the strong reputation of the famous Roosakker family, whose offspring are traditionally in high demand at auctions.

Epic Waldstar Z (Emerald) and Cadix du Berlioz (Casino Berlin) also impressed buyers, both surpassing the €80,000 mark.
