Eldorado van de Zeshoek: From sporty to influential stallion

Posted on 25 Sep 2025

Born in 2004 and registered in the BWP, Eldorado van de Zeshoek (Clinton x Toulon) combines athletic performance with exceptional hereditary power.

While he himself was successful up to 1.60m, it is above all his offspring that have made his name known worldwide. Today, he is one of the most sought-after stallions in international breeding programs and ranks fifth in the Hippomundo 2025 ranking with his offspring's winnings totaling over €3.9 million.

Pedigree

The pedigree of Eldorado van de Zeshoek is a prime example of performance breeding. His sire, Clinton, is considered one of the most influential sons of Corrado I and was himself successful up to 1.60m. His dam Bijou Orai, a daughter of Toulon, brings additional top blood into the line. This places Eldorado in a black type family that has produced international successes for generations – a glance at the Hippomundo pedigree impressively shows the density of top horses.

Sports career

Riders such as Jeroen Dubbeldam, Hanno Ellermann, and Willem Greve, Eldorado demonstrated his skills in international sport.

Even though he was not among the absolute world leaders of his time, he established himself as a solid sport stallion before focusing entirely on breeding.
