Brasileiro de Hipismo is the Brazilian breed for sport horses. Since 1977, the Brazilian Breeders Association (ABCCH) has been registering horses. The geological distance between South America and the equestrian international polo in Europe created big difficulties for Brazil to assess much of the quality from the world’s best breeders. But the distance did not stop Brazil from breeding horses that made history over the years.
Arisco Aspen is a good example of miscegenation that worked really great. Born in 1985 at Haras Sao Paulo - Brazil, the son of Holsteiner’s Lorado out of a Silla Argentino mare, Draga, helped Brazil reach the Olympic Bronze Medals in Atlanta in 1996 and Sidney in 2000. We can now see that globalization and better reproductive biotechnologies have brought Brazil much closer to European studs.
This Friday, 9, we watched two incredible mares who amazingly represented their home country at the Nations Cup in La Baule. Yuri Mansur with Miss Blue Mystic Rose and Stephan Barcha with Primavera Montana were the two 100% Brazilian combinations that together with Marlon Modolo Zanotelli riding VDL Grand Slam and Rodrigo Pessoa riding Major Tom conquered the gold medal for Team Brazil. Only a week before, Yuri, Marlon and Rodrigo, jumped beside Pedro Veniss and Nimrod de Muze to the silver medal in St. Gallen’s Nations Cup.
Miss Blue Mystic Rose jumped both weeks making two clears and two 4 faults in four very difficult rounds with her rider Yuri Mansur. In addition to recent medals, Miss Blue and Yuri have been collecting wins and places in many of the major 5* of the year. This duo has made almost € 100,000 since the beginning of 2023. Daughter of Chacco Blue out of a Zirocco Blue mare and bred by Haras Rosa Mystica in Sorocaba, Brazil, Miss Blue is the 5th generation of a Brazilian sport horses family. Primarily worked by the rider Guilherme Foroni during the young horses’ classes in her home country, Miss Blue was sold to Saint- Blue Farm and Quality Horses and started showing in international competitions below the yellow jacket of Yuri Mansur, who is currently based in the Netherlands, and we will probably see this combination strongly disputing a spot for the 2024 Olympics. Miss Blue's dam, Magnolia Mystic Rose, had also performed very well at 1.60m 5* classes around the world and now she is back in Brazil to the saddle of José Roberto Reynoso Filho and luckily to produce a few more offspring. You can get to know about her pedigree and sport results by clicking here.
Primavera Montana is an 11yo daughter of Calvaro Z out of a Brazilian mare by Paroli, HFB Primaluna. This family had already shown its quality with another mare that we have already seen in the international classes under the saddle of Edwina Tops-Alexander and Alberto Zorzi, the Mezzaluna Tok, a dam-sister of Primaluna, both daughters of HFB Quintaluna. You can see the entire pedigree of Chevaux Primavera Montana Império Egípcio by clicking here.
Primavera was raised in Haras Montana and according to Stephan Barcha, sold for Team Chevaux when she was still very young as they saw her jumping perfectly over the fence that divided the fields at the stud farm. Currently, Primavera is property of Haras Imperio Egípcio who is working strongly with Chevaux and Stephan for a spot in Paris 2024.

Arrived in Europe in May this year, Barcha and Primavera have already earned more than €100,000 so far. After winning many 1.60 classes in Brazil and the gold team medal at the South American Games in 2022, this duo looks prepared to show the world they can fight for the top of the podium against the best combinations in the world. Just a month in international competitions was enough for them to conquer winning at the 1,55 GP of the CSIO4* in Montefalco, Italy, and 3rd place in the 1,60 GP of the CSIO5* in Rome. Now, in their very first Nations Cup, the gold medal came to show that, from now on, we’ll probably hear a lot more about this mare.
