As the year draws to a close and there are no big competitions on the programme before the start of the new year, it is time to start reviewing the year we have had.
Which horses have won the most money in 2021?
Let's discuss the highest-earning horses of the past year with the help of our Hippomundo Horse ranking.
Thanks to his performance in the World Cup of London two weeks ago, the 13-year-old Holstein gelding Monaco can now crown himself the highest-earning horse of 2021. He took over the top spot from Killer Queen VDM who had been holding on to the title for the past 11 months. Monaco is a son of Cassini II out of a mare by Contender who won almost €850,000 in the past year. His most successful performances this past year were a second place in the Rolex Grand Prix of Geneva, a second place for his team in the Prague Play Offs and being a part of the winning Dutch team at the Nations Cup final in Barcelona under the saddle of Harrie Smolders.
