After the previous article on breeding advice for broodmares by Quidam de Revel, Indoctro, and Heartbreaker, several Hippomundo members asked for a follow-up, for example with breeding advice for broodmares sired by Darco, Diamant de Semilly, and Carthago Z. Of course, we are happy to do so, so we went back to investigate. We looked at which combination was most successful in combination with a Darco, Diamant or Carthago Z mare. Successful here means that the offspring have jumped 1.45m or higher.
Darco
Darco, the son of Lugano van la Roche, is the sire of the dam of 348 horses in our database. The combination that occurs most often (9 times) in horses jumping 1.45m or higher is Diamant de Semilly x Darco. Nabab de Reve was successfully crossed with a Darco-dam six times, followed by Numero Uno (4 times). Then there are five stallions who are the sires of three offspring bred out of a Darco mother. Here it is striking that both Toulon and Echo van 't Spielveld have Heartbreaker as a sire. The sire of Heartbreaker is Nimmerdor and that is behind Kannan (Voltaire x Nimmerdor). So it seems that the Nimmerdor blood fits well with breeding mares of Darco.

The best-earning horse with Darco as dam's sire is Bull Run's Fausrino de Tili with €71,885, who has Berlin as direct sire. Next are two Diamant de Semilly offspring, Ilex VP and Diadarco van Evendael Z, who earned €51,461 and €47,839 respectively.
Diamant de Semilly
In the Hippomundo database, there are 376 registered horses who have Diamant de Semilly as their dam's sire. Hippomundo looked at the sires of all offspring jumping 1.45m or higher. Unlike the other stallions there is not really an outlier. Three stallions have five offspring out of a Diamant de Semilly dam, these are Mylord Carthago, Quaprice du Bois Margot and Kannan. Four stallions each had three offspring out of a Diamant de Semilly dam: Echo van 't Spieveld, Calvaro Z, Air Jordan Z and Cassini II.

Looking at the pedigrees of these stallions we see two remarkable things. Firstly it seems that Jalisco B is leaving his mark. Jalisco B is the father of Quidam de Revel (2x), who in turn is the father of Quaprice Bois Margot (5x) and also the dam's father of Mylord Carthago (5x). We also see the Capitol I blood (sire of Mylord Carthago, Cassini II and dam of Calvaro Z) in the pedigrees of the stallions with the most offspring out of a Diamant de Semilly broodmare.
The best-known Mylord Carthago progeny out of a Diamant de Semilly dam is Bingo du Parc, ridden by Harrie Smolders. This horse is in second place in the ranking of best earning horses with Diamant de Semilly as dam's sire and won just under €120,000 in the past 365 days. The best earning horse with Diamant de Semilly as dam's sire is Bingo Ste Hermelle, a descendant of SF stallion Number One d'Iso Un Prince (by Baloubet du Rouet). Bingo Ste Hermelle won €135,249 in prize money in the past 365 days.
Carthago Z
Carthago Z seems to fit particularly well with the foundation sires. The crossing of Chacco-Blue out of a broodmare by Carthago Z produced no less than thirteen 1.45m+ horses. Three of these are in the top 10 of best earning horses with Carthago Z as dam's sire: Casquo Blue in second place, H5 Chaganus in fifth place and Chataga in eighth place. All jump at 1.60m level. The best earning horse out of a Carthago mare is Kaprice, who has Echo van 't Spieveld as direct sire.

Remarkable here is that five of these stallions strace back to Cor de la Bryère. Of the stallions Chacco-Blue (13x), Casall ASK (8x), Chellano Z (3x), Balou du Rouet (3x) and Canturo (3x) the pedigree leads back to Cor de la Bryère on either the mother's side or the father's side. In some pedigrees Cor de la Bryère appears twice.
Besides that, the genes of Quidam de Revel seem to fit well in a Carthago Z-mother with even four offspring and another three through his son Nabab de Reve.
