The most prize money - Riders
The sport is growing and you can see that in everything... Last year no less than 4 showjumpers collected a prize pool of more than 2 million euros, while another 15 riders jumped to the 1 million euro mark. It says something about the evolution, because in 2018 only Marcus Ehning managed to collect more than 2 million euros, while in 2017 even Kent Farrington did not manage to collect more than 1,885 million euros.
Daniel Deusser won by far the most prize money in 2019, 2,670,572 euros to be precise, and was in this way ahead of the current number 1 in the world, Martin Fuchs. Deusser started 278 times in 2019, winning 6.8% of the classes he jumped. In addition, he was placed no less than 51.8% times. If we look at 2019 then Brian Moggre can present the highest win percentage from all the riders out of the top 100. This American only started 85 times in 2019, but managed to win no less than 17.6% of these competitions, or 15 classes! If we look at the total number of victories, Emanuele Gaudiano scores even better. In 2019, the Italian won no less than 55 competitions, or 12.2% of the classes in which he started!
The best horse
Where different riders easily jumped around 300 round in 2019, the situation is completely different for the horses... Explosion W, by far the best horse in 2019 if we look at the number of points, only jumped 53 times in 2019. In those 53 times he jumped to a prize pool of just under 1.3 million witha placings percentage of no less than 71.7%. That means that he was placed no less than 38 times out of 53 classes he jumped, including 12 victories! What is even more impressive is that this is not even the highest placings percentage ... If we look at the top 100 horses based on points, we see that Baloussino can even present a percentage of 89.3%. This son of Baloussini is only jumping at 1m45 level, but he was placed a staggering 25 times out of his 28 starts!
The most rounds where jumped in 2019 by Cheston de la Pomme d'Or Z, who claimed 805 points in 89 starts under the saddle of Omer Karaevli. Kai Licha de Carmel also reached the mark of 80 starts. This daughter of Prince van de Wolfsakker can in her turn be seen under the saddle of Ann Carton-Grootjans.
Surprisingly, most of the prize money in 2019 was not for Explosion W, but for H&M Christian K. This son of Namelus R completed 40 courses in 2019 under the saddle of Peder Fredricson and managed to collect 1.35 million euros prize money, thanks to a winnings percentage of 15%.
Golden breeders
The first place in the breeder ranking in 2019 is of course no surprise ... Paul Schockemöhle has no less than 851 offspring recorded on Hippomundo and together they competed no less than 14,632 times in 2019! It yielded a prize pool of no less than 7.6 million euros. Yes, you read that correctly... A little more modest but certainly impressive as well is Stal den Bisschop. They have 70 horses in the ranking which, with 1,304 starts, jumped to a prize pool of just over 2.1 million euros. The breeders in places 3, 4, 5 and 6 can also look back on a total prize pool of more than 1 million euros. G. Klerks could count on his breeding products H&M Christian K and Donando for this, while W. Wijnen scores well thanks to Explosion W. Bernd Richter has bred gold medalist Clooney 51, while ZG Eppinger / Puskeiler is known as the creator of Cortney Cox 2 and Carlosspri. Actually, if we look at these amounts, we see again why a breeders premium would be very interesting...
Best stallion
Chacco-Blue of course no longer needs an introduction. He was hot in 2019 and it will be no different in 2020. Not surprising, of course, if you know that his offspring collected just under 7 million euros in 2019. He could count on no less than 460 offspring who jumped a total of8,881 rounds in 2019. Nevertheless, the number 2 in 2019, Cornet Obolensky is doing better in percentage terms... His 170 offspring competed in "only" 2,779 classes in 2019 and earned just over 4 million euros. It ensures that the offspring of Cornet Obolensky earned an average of 1,456 euros per start, while Chacco-Blue is stuck at 813 euros per start...
Other notable averages from the top 15 of the stallions come from Larino and Namelus R. Larino has the highest average with 2,872 euros prize money per start. His 34 offspring jumped 567 rounds in 2019 and earned a nice 1.6 million euros. Namelus R scores slightly better than Cornet Obolensky with € 1,494 per start. His 72 offspring competed 1127 times and jumped just under 1.7 million euros.
Diamant de Semilly, in turn, had the most offspring internationally in sports in 2019. With around 668 offspring he lies a lot ahead of Chacco-Blue, whom is in 2nd place with 460 offspring, and Kannan who is in 3rd place with 429 offspring. Numero Uno and Nabab de Reve also had more than 300 offspring competing internationally in the sport in 2019!
Big, bigger, biggest...
The studbooks can present hallucinatory amounts! The KWPN scored the most prize money in 2019, with a sloppy 24 million euros ... They were able to count on 5,148 KWPN members who took part 73,139 times. Both the SF (2nd) and the BWP (3rd) achieved the milestone of 19 million euros in prize money. The SF could count on 4,440 horses with just under 60,000 starts, while the BWP with 2,875 horses and 45,000 starts is able to present a better average.
If we look at the studbooks with more than 1000 horses in the international sport in 2019, we see that BWP with an average of 6,766 euros per start clearly takes the lead. They are followed by the OS, which has an average of 6,016 euros with 1,433 horses at the start. Zangersheide takes third place. They had 2,235 horses competing internationally in 2019 that collected an average prize pool of 5,034 euros.
